Dr. Hood started her veterinary career in a kennel at a small animal hospital in West Palm Beach, FL in 2006. She also volunteered at Logger-head Marine Life Center on the sea turtle rehabilitation team prior to completing her pre-veterinary studies at the University of Central Florida in 2009. Dr. Hood worked as an emergency veterinary technician in central North Carolina prior to starting veterinary school at North Carolina State University in 2015. While in school she was an active member of Chris-tian Veterinary Missions and went on five trips to the Cherokee and Navajo reservations and also volunteered with the ASPCA and deployed three times with the medical team to care for animals following hoarding and dogfighting raids.
Dr. Hood has been married to her husband, Charles, for 13 years. They have a son, Alex, who is 8 years old and wants to be a shark veterinarian, professional drummer, and Monster Truck driver when he grows up. They have six pets: Maddie (9yr old collie mix), Gilmour (5 yr old husky? mix), Tracker (7yr old dachshund), Tabby (16 yr old torti), Mitchie (8yr old three-legged, one-eyed Russian blue), and Bandit (crazy 1 yr old kitten). In addition to animals and music, she also enjoys camping, cooking, reading, and writing. Dr. Hood's first young adult fiction work was published fall of 2018.
